PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD
O Jesus, our compassionate High Priest,
we ask you to raise up among our Christian communities
abundant and holy vocations to the priesthood.
Grant to the men whom you are calling to this holy service
the grace to stay close to your Sacred Heart.
Aid them in their commitment to prayer
and grant them the grace to hear your voice more clearly each day.
Give them the humility and the charity
to respond to your invitation in discerning this vocation.
May they encounter you close to them in every step of their journey,
being reminded that they are never without you and your guidance.
We ask this in your name, Jesus.

A note from Scott
I was born into a family of teachers. I used to "clap erasers" in my mother's fourth grade
classroom after school. The journey into and through teaching has been filled with wonder, learning, and change. I taught mathematics at Nicholls State University for thirty-three happy years. Part of the happiness of those years is due to the fact that I was so close to the St. Thomas Catholic Student Center!
I believe the Lord led me into that journey because in so many ways those years were ones of formation for a (later!) vocation and journey into priesthood. Vocations know no age, and so here I am at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, with heart aflame in desire to serve the Lord and to serve His People. The "teacher" in me knows that I still have a lot to learn from the instructors and formators here at the seminary, and from our Lord, Who is ultimately the Guide and Director.
